Matters of the heart: Valentine’s Day Blood Drive set in Gowanda

Give the gift of life on Valentine’s Day this year. Gowanda High School’s Student Council is presenting a ConnectLife Community Blood Drive on Valentine’s Day, Friday, Feb. 14, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Gowanda High School gymnasium.

This drive is open to the public. Those age 16, 17 and 18 must fill out a permission slip. Donors must weigh at least 120 pounds. Valid identification is required to enter the high school and for donation registration with ConnectLife, the donation/blood draw organization (formerly UNYTS).

Sheridan Post 6390 VFW Auxiliary bake sale Friday

The Auxiliary for the Sheridan Memorial Post 6390 VFW will be holding a bake sale Friday at the post located at 2556 Rt 20 in Sheridan. The sale will begin at 4:30 p.m. and continue through the regular dining hours for the Friday night fish fry. In recognition of the Valentine’s Day holiday, all baked goods will feature chocolate as the main ingredient. Proceeds from the bake sales are used to support various community and veteran causes.

Reed staff to visit Fredonia

A member of Rep. Tom Reed’s staff will be at Fredonia Village Hall Friday, Feb. 14, from noon to 1:30 p.m. Staff will be available to answer questions, gather feedback, and provide assistance with immigration, Social Security, veterans’ benefits, and other issues related to federal agencies.

Soil Water Conservation Board of Directors regular meeting set

The regular meeting of the Chautauqua County Soil & Water Conservation District Board of Directors will be Wednesday, Feb. 19 at 8:30 a.m. at 220 Fluvanna Ave, Suite 600 in Jamestown. The public is invited to attend.
