Gowanda Loyal Order of Moose plan Valentine’s Day dinner for two

The Gowanda Loyal Order of Moose, 201 Aldrich St., Gowanda, will hold a Valentine’s Day dinner for two on Friday beginning at 4 p.m. The meal will include prime rib, salad, potato, vegetable, roll, dessert and a bottle of wine for $50 per couple. Reservations are requested. Call 532-4882.

Slovenian Club Valentine’s Day dinner

The Slovenian Club, 36 Palmer St., Gowanda, will hold a Valentine’s Day dinner on Friday, starting at 4 p.m. The evening features a surf and turf special with strip steak/lobster, soup or salad, and special treats. The cost is $20 per person.

Forestville Fire Department to hold chicken barbecue

The Forestville Fire Department, located at 18 Chestnut St., will hold chicken barbecue on Sunday, Feb. 16 from noon until sold out. The price is $10 per dinner and includes half a chicken, mashed potatoes, stuffing, roasted carrots, a roll and a chocolate/peanut butter dessert. All pre-sale orders must be picked up by 1 p.m. Dining options include eat in or take out.

Chautauqua County American Legion Testimonial Dinner set for Sunday

A Chautauqua County American Legion Testimonial Dinner will take place Sunday, Feb. 16 at 4 p.m., hosted by Dunkirk Memorial Post 62, 211 Central Ave., Dunkirk. The event honors Department Officers Department Commander Mike McDermott, Department Auxiliary President Linda Tome and Sons of the American Legion Detachment Commander Dennis George.

Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s Office seeks applicants

The Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s Office is looking for candidates to attend this year’s Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Academy. You must live in Cattaraugus county, have a high school degree, turn 21 by June 2021 and want to work as a deputy at the Sheriff’s Office. The Academy starts in late August and continues through March 2021. You need to apply to both the Sheriff’s Office by contacting Teresa Navarre at 938-2216 and to the Academy at https://www.sunyjcc.edu/special-credit-opportunity/chautauqua-county-sheriffs-academy. The deadline to apply is April 15, 2020.

CASA plans mixer to explain volunteer opportunities

Spring volunteer training starts Tuesday, March 3. CASA of Chautauqua County is looking for volunteers to advocate for abused and neglected children in foster care, in Chautauqua County. Interested parties should be able to dedicate 8 to 10 hours a month on their case for at least a year and be 21 years of age. Those interested in registering for the Spring training should call CASA at 753-4123.

Anyone interested in learning more about becoming a CASA volunteer is invited to a mixer at Big Inlet Brewing, 6169 Elm Flat Road, Mayville, on Sunday, Feb. 23 from 1 to 3 p.m. Stop in and meet current volunteers, enjoy light hors d’oeuvres and learn about how to make a difference in the life of an abused or neglected child right here in this community.
