Fredonia-Pomfret Republicans to meet

The Fredonia Pomfret Republican Committee is meeting at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 22 at Fredonia Grange No. 1. All Fredonia and Pomfret Republicans and like minded individuals are encouraged to attend and bring a guest. County Executive P.J. Wendel and Fredonia Mayor Douglas Essek will be speaking.

Campus to host Civic Engagement Night

Civic Engagement Night, an opportunity to learn about important issues and how to take positive action to address them, will be held on Thursday, Feb. 20, from 7 to 9 p.m. in the Williams Center Multipurpose Room at the State University of New York at Fredonia.

Representatives from a variety of campus and community groups will be available to share information and answer questions on issues ranging from public health and environmental sustainability to voter registration and turnout.

Members of the campus community and the public are invited to attend.

CCRM to hold Mardi Gras event Saturday

Looking for a local Mardi Gras Party? Chautauqua County Rural Ministry will be holding its inaugural Mardi Gras celebration on Feb. 22 at the Dunkirk Event Center (Old Moose Lodge). The cost is $25 per person and the event will run from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. Ticket price includes entertainment by The Rising, New Orleans Style dinner buffet (pulled pork, pulled chicken, rice/beans, salad, rolls, gumbo, King Cake) and appetizers. A cash bar will be available. There will also be raffle baskets, silent auction and a chance to win March 15 Sabres tickets with free parking pass and a basket of wines. CCRM is providing the beads and masks and encourages everyone to dress Mardi Gras style. Tickets are available at CCRM offices at 319 Washington Ave. in Dunkirk or by calling 366-1787. Tickets are also available from any board member. CCRM is a United Way of Northern Chautauqua County Community Partner.
