Associates cancel monthly meeting

The Northern Chautauqua County Club Associates has canceled its regular monthly meeting for November.

Annual water main flushing continues in Dunkirk

The Dunkirk Department of Public Works is reminding city residents that from midnight to 6 a.m. Tuesday through Friday the city is continuing the annual flushing of water mains and fire hydrants throughout the city. The process will take two or three more weeks. During flushing, residents may, for brief periods, experience slightly cloudy water and reduced water pressure. The Water Department recommends that residents let water run until clear before laundering and cooking.

Portland Town Board meeting to be held today

Virtual faculty recital set Sunday

FREDONIA — A virtual faculty recital featuring two members of the State University at Fredonia School of Music will be livestreamed on Sunday at 6 p.m. The recital was rescheduled from Oct. 25. Assistant Professor Leonidas Lagrimas, piano, and Adjunct Lecturer Aurora Deeds, soprano, will perform works by Johannes Bach, George Frideric Handel, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Italian composer Stefano Donaudy, Amedee-Ernest Chausson and Louise-Hector Berlioz, both French Romantic composers, and Cole Porter. The themes of lost loves and texts by William Shakespeare and pieces from Mozart’s Mass in C. Minor and Handel’s “Samson” will be performed in the program, which will be performed in Rosch Recital Hall. The recital can be accessed at the School of Music’s streaming channel on YouTube.

Free rabies clinic to be held in Dunkirk

A free rabies clinic will be held at 4737 Willow Road, Dunkirk, for town of Dunkirk residents only from 2 to 5 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 7. Vaccinations will be given by appointment only. To schedule an appointment call the Town Clerk’s office at 366-3967.

Local Vietnam Veterans of America chapter to meet

Chapter No. 459 of the Vietnam Veterans of America will meet at 11 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 8, at the John T. Murray VFW Post No. 1017, 113 Deer St., Dunkirk. Social distancing rules will apply and face masks will be required.
