Taste of South dinner set for May

The Juneteenth 2021 Celebration Committee will be sponsoring the Annual Taste of the South on Friday, May 7 from 4 to 6 p.m. at Open Door No. 3 Church of God in Christ, 59 Lake Shore Drive West, Dunkirk. The theme for the event is “Summer BBQ.” Dinners will be take-out only following COVID guidelines.

The Annual Taste of the South is a Southern style African American down home bar-b-que featuring bar-b-que ribs, bar-b-que chicken, shredded pork, macaroni and cheese, sweet potato casserole, corn on the cob, green beans and white potatoes, corn bread, banana pudding, and many other dishes.

This event will kick off the Juneteenth 2021 celebration. For more information and tickets, please call Laurie at 785-7900 or Loretta at 363-1102.

Town clerk’s office to be closed

WESTFIELD — The town clerk’s office will be closed from Monday to Wednesday for online virtual training. Clerk Andrea L. Babcock can be reached at 753-0094 to schedule an appointment.

Brocton planning chicken barbecue

BROCTON — The Brocton Fire Co. will be holding a drive-through chicken barbecue on Sunday, May 2 at the Fire Hall located at 80 Lake Ave. The barbecue will be provided by Chiavettas and will run from noon until sold out. Price is $12 and it includes two sides. For questions, call 410-1932.

Honor Society sets barbecue event

Dunkirk High School’s National Honor Society will host a Weidner’s Chicken Barbecue on Friday, May 7 from 3 to 6 p.m. in the school cafeteria. This is rescheduled event from last March 2020.

All tickets that were purchased for the original event will be honored. We also have additional tickets for sale. Each dinner will include half chicken, mashed potatoes, corn, dinner roll and butter and an ice cream sandwich. If you are interested in purchasing tickets for the event, you can contact a Honor Society member or contact the high school main office.

Sinclairville barbecue is Sunday

SINCLAIRVILLE — The Sinclairville Volunteer Fire Company No. 1 will be hosting a chicken barbecue at noon Sunday. The event will be drive-through only, with full dinners consisting of a half-chicken, scalloped potatoes, applesauce, roll, and cookie, for $11. Half-chicken only meals are available for $7 each. Those attending are asked to line up in the rear parking lot of the fire hall.
