Watershed Commission to meet

Bingo returns to Elks Lodge

The Dunkirk Elks Lodge 922 located at 428 Central Ave. will be resuming weekly Bingo. The first game in over a year will be on Thursday and every Thursday following. The doors will open at 5 p.m., admission card sales will begin at 6 and the games will start promptly at 7. Social distancing will be observed and masks must be worn by all people who are not completely vaccinated.

Roblin Steel Coffee Club to meet

The Roblin Steel Coffee Club will meet Friday at Demetri’s in Dunkirk at 8:30 a.m.

Blood drive set for Friday

WESTFIELD — The Community Blood Bank will host a blood drive from noon to 4 p.m. Friday, June 11, at Westfield Memorial Hospital. To schedule an appointment, call Kathy Hastings at 450-0376.

Appointments are strongly encouraged to help adhere to social distancing and other safety protocols. Individuals are eligible to give blood if it has been 56 days since their last donation; they are at least 17 years of age (16 with parental consent); weigh at least 110 pounds; have not received a tattoo or body piercing in the past 3 months; are in good general health and do not have a cold or the flu. Donors must have a valid photo ID in order to donate.

Prior to donating, those giving blood should eat a good, solid meal and drink at least 18 ounces of water. For more information, visit www.fourhearts.org or call 877-842-0631.

Open adoption of pets Saturday

The Lakeshore Humane Society will hold open adoption hours Saturday from noon to 3 p.m. The center is located at 431 E. Chestnut Street, Dunkirk. Open Adoption Hours will be held weekly.

Masks covering the nose and mouth must be worn at all times on the grounds of LHS. Groups visiting the facility will be limited to two per family/visit. To maintain social distancing and address sanitizing needs, limited numbers will be allowed into the facility at one time. Please be prepared to wait in your vehicle until you can be admitted into the building. Tours of the facility will not be given.

No individual appointments will be made during these hours. Individual appointments continue to be available throughout the week and can be made by leaving a message at 716-672-1991 (press “1” for dogs or “2” for cats). Guidelines may change according to the latest information from New York State. Please check the LHS website for last minute changes or updates.

The Cat’s Meow Boutique, located in the lobby, will be open for purchases.

Fredonia pantry open on Saturday

On Saturday, June 19, The Fredonia Food Pantry will be open from 10 a.m. to noon at Fredonia Presbyterian Church at 219 Central Ave. The pantry serves the needs of residents of Fredonia and ZIP code 14063 that includes Pomfret, Sheridan, and Laona. All guests receive one or more bags of non-perishable food. Number of bags given out depends on family size.

Brocton library holds book sale

BROCTON — The Ahira Hall Memorial Library will be holding a Book Sale through Friday, June 18. The library is open Mondays and Wednesdays from 1 to 8 p.m., Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Fridays from 1 to 5 p.m.

Hardcovers are $1, Paperbacks 50 cents, DVDs are $1 and children’s books 25 cents.

Call the library for more information at 792-9418. All proceeds from the Book Sale go directly into the Library’s operating fund.
