Westfield Zoning Board to meet

WESTFIELD — The Westfield Zoning Board of Appeals will meet at 3 p.m. today in the auditorium of Eason Hall, 23 Elm St., Westfield, to discuss interpretation of Commercial District use. The public is welcome to attend.

Hazardous waste collection set for Saturday

The city of Dunkirk will host a “Household Hazardous Waste” collection event on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Lucas Avenue facility. The event is sponsored by Chautauqua County, the state Department of Environmental Conservation, Storer’s Container Service and Chautauqua County Hazmat.

Materials accepted include used auto fluids, drain cleaners, glue, aerosol cans, varnishes, turpentine, solvents, weed killers and pesticides. Items NOT accepted include batteries, electronics, latex paint and waste oil. The registration form, which contains a complete list of acceptable/unacceptable items, can be found on the city’s website www.cityofdunkirk.com, City Hall in the City Clerk’s Office, City Treasurer’s Office or Public Works Department or by calling 716-661-8424 for more information.

Completed registration forms will be collected from residents on Saturday.

Plant swap slated for Saturday

The Darwin R. Barker Library in Fredonia will be holding a plant swap on Saturday outside the library from 9 a.m. to noon. Bring a plant, take a plant! Please drop off your plant(s) in containers including name and care instructions between 9 and 10 a.m. at the tables outside the library. The swap will start at 10 and end at noon. Anything left after noon will be up for grabs.
