South Dayton legion plans weekend events

SOUTH DAYTON — American Legion Post 1593 will host two weekend events, both Saturday and Sunday.

On Saturday, the Post will be holding its annual walk with all proceeds benefiting the Cattaraugus County, Joseph P. Dwyer Veterans Peer to Peer Program. Sign-ins start at 11 a.m. with the cost being $10 for adults, $5 for youth 11 to 18 years of age and children under 10 walk for free.

The walk will proceed around the village of South Dayton and back to the Legion where walkers will receive a free lunch and there will be a Blue Star Mothers Presentation as well as a Chinese Auction and 50-50s.

On Sunday, the Sons of the Legion will be holding a drive-through chicken barbecue. The cost is $11 per dinner and it starts at noon. The dinner includes Weidner’s chicken, two sides, roll and dessert. There are no presale tickets so it is on a first come-first serve basis.
