Benefit today for owner of Teft Glass

A benefit will be held today, July 24, from 3 to 6 p.m. at the Chautauqua County Fireman’s Grounds to raise money for Grant Courson, a local businessman who owns and operates Teft Glass. Courson recently had a heart attack and is unable to work. The benefit will raise money for medical expenses. The cost is a $10 donation for a spaghetti dinner, meatballs, salad, bread and cookies. There will also be a Chinese auction and a 50-50 giveaway.

Church to hold indoor yard sale

SILVER CREEK — Trinity Lutheran Church, through a generous donation from Thrivent Financial, will be holding its 9th annual indoor yard sale on Saturday, July 31st from 9 a.m. – 2 p.m. during the Silver Creek villagewide sales. Featured are a large selection of greeting cards, jewelry, and beer steins. An assortment of craft material is available. Some free goodies can be found, too!

In addition, the men of the church will be sponsoring a Sahlen’s hot dog sale starting at 10 a.m. A value meal including a hot dog, bag of chips, bottle of water and bag of cookies will be sold for $4. Items will also be sold separately.

In appreciation for caring for the needs in the community, the Silver Creek Food Pantry will receive 50% of the yard sale proceeds and 100% of the hot dog sale proceeds. The church is located at 15 Porter Avenue in Silver Creek.

United Seniors to meet Aug. 9

The United Senior Citizens will meet Monday, Aug. 9 at 11:45 a.m. at the Beaver Club on Prospect Street, Fredonia. Lunch will consist of lemon rosemary balsamic chicken quarters, roasted red potatoes, fresh vegetable medley, tossed salad with dressing, ice cream dessert and coffee. Please send a $10 check per lunch (made out to United Senior Citizens) to: Evonne Hennebery, PO Box 706, Dunkirk, NY 14048. It will be great to see everyone again and don’t forget to bring your friends!

Patterson Library announces events

WESTFIELD — The Octagon Gallery will be hosting an exhibit by art trail artists from Aug. 6 through Sept. 3. Art may be viewed on pattersonlib.org.

An American Sign-Language group now meets in the Patterson Library every Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. The group is open to those deaf or hearing who would like to converse in ASL. Contact Jay for details at 326-2350.
