Auxiliary meeting

is today

The Chautauqua County American Legion Auxiliary meeting will be held at 6:30 p.m. today at the John W. Dill Post 434 in Brocton. Auxiliary members are encouraged to attend and begin the 2021-22 year with a renewed awareness and responsibility to veterans and their families.

County to hold 9/11 ceremony Saturday

The local American Legion and the Chautauqua County Veterans Council will be holding a 9/11 remembrance ceremony on Saturday at noon in front of the Chautauqua County Courthouse, 1 N. Erie St. in Mayville. The program is to honor and remember the over 3,000 Americans who were killed on Sept. 11, 2001, at World Trade Center in New York City, the pentagon just outside of Washington, D.C., and a field in Western Pennsylvania. “This year marks the 20th Anniversary of 9/11,” said County Executive PJ Wendel. “I encourage residents to attend or pause and take a moment on September 11th to honor and remember those who tragically lost their lives on this horrific day in 2001.”

County Ethics Board to meet

MAYVILLE — The Chautauqua County Ethics Board will meet at 3 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 15, in Room 149 of the Gerace Office Building, 3 N. Erie St. in Mayville. Current members of the board are John Hamels, Diane Hannum, John Marengo, David Rowe and Mary Kay Szwejbka. Individuals attending the meeting will be required to wear a face mask within the security screening area of the building and if they are not vaccinated for COVID-19.

Board of Health

to meet virtually

MAYVILLE — The Chautauqua County Board of Health’s previously announced in-person meeting has been changed to virtual. The board will meet at 6 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 16, by remote access at facebook.com/myhealthycounty/. The public may participate in privilege of the floor by emailing a statement prior to the meeting to raters@chqgov.com. Emailed statements will be read during the privilege of the floor.

Members of fire company to gather

Members of the Murray Hose Volunteer Fire Company No. 4 will meet at 7 p.m. Monday, Sept. 13, in the Fire Hall Meeting room. Upcoming banquet will be discussed at the meeting, and all members are urged to attend.

Road to close

RIPLEY — Phillips Road over the CSX tracks in the town of Ripley will be closed due to crossing repairs from Sept. 14- 17.

Chiavetta’s dinner set at SUNY

The men’s and women’s soccer team at SUNY Frdedonia is holding a fundraiser with Chiavetta’s chicken dinners for only $10. They will be outside of the University Stadium on Fredonia State campus from 3:30 to 7:30 p.m. Friday. Along with the Chivettas dinners, there will be a college tournament held on both Friday and Saturday.

Legion Auxiliary meeting is Sept. 14

The Dunkirk Memorial American Legion Auxiliary Unit 62 monthly meeting will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 14, at 7 p.m. at Post 62, 211 Central Ave. Auxiliary members are encouraged to attend and new members always welcome. Dues for 2022 are now being accepted either in person, mail to Membership chair Pat Ambrose, 67 Berry Rd., Fredonia NY 14063, or online at alaforveterans.com
