Club Associates add members, events
SILVER CREEK — The Northern Chautauqua County Club Associates held its regular monthly meeting at the Silver Creek Overseas Veteran Post, Main Street. The group was welcomed by Post president Ed Fik.
The meeting was opened with the pledge of allegiance, followed by a moment of silence for deceased club members, and for the victims of the mass shooting in Buffalo. Roll call of officers and clubs were taken. All present.
Secretary Jim Pryll read the minutes of the previous meeting, and treasurer, Tom Halicki, gave the financial report. A thank you was read from the 11 Day Power Play, and Shane Boyle, for making a donation in his name.
It was announced that The Silver Creek AMVETS has joined the Association, represented by Leroy Herbstritt.
Upcoming events of member clubs were discussed. The J. Carter Knapp Post will sponsor a meat party on Oct. 1, while the Silver Creek Overseas Veterans will be holding a pig roast in the near future.
The next regular meeting will take place on Sept. 25 at the Sheridan VFW. Any club member is welcome to attend.
15th annual golf tourney set
WESTFIELD — The Union Relief Association of Westfield will be holding its 15th annual golf tournament “Golfing for Gifts” on Saturday, June 18, at the Pinehurst Golf Course, Route 20, Westfield.
The event features an 8 a.m registration and a 9 a.m. tee time. This years event is designed as a shot gun start with a scramble format. The cost for 18 holes of golf with a cart is $80 per golfer or $320 for a team of four. A chance to win a new Cub Cadet lawn tractor for a hole in one, has been donated by LaPorte Farm Equipment and Bristol Burgess Agency LLC, both of Westfield.
Fundraisers includes skins, giveaways and refreshments. Hot dogs and hamburgers will be offered at the turn and a steak lunch to be followed after the tournament.

The Union Relief of Westfield provides assistance to the area community members in a time of need. With the help of the donations form the community, Union Relief has been able to help more than 100 children and 50 senior citizens within the past year.
School Boards To Hold Joint Meeting
RIPLEY — The Ripley Central School Board will hold a joint meeting with the Chautauqua Lake Central School Board at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday in Ripley. The regular meeting of the Ripley School Board will begin afterward.
Chapter meets Sunday
Chapter 459, Vietnam Veterans of America, will meet at 11 a.m. Sunday at the John T. Murray VFW Post No. 1017, 113 Deer St., Dunkirk.
