Laona egg hunt is April 8

The egg hunt for Laona and town of Pomfret will be taking place on April 8 at 10 a.m. in the Laona playground. Each child will get a bag of goodies. The annual bunny raffle will take place as well. Those with questions can call 716-673-1051.

Portland Fire District meets Monday

PORTLAND — There will be a workshop session of the Board of Commissioners of the Portland Fire District on Monday at 7 p.m. for the purpose of reviewing specifications for future replacement of entry doors at the Hall, and any other business that may come before the board. As always meetings and workshops are open to the public.

Meet and Greet set for Sunday

BEMUS POINT — The Bemus Point Business Association has announced its annual Meet and Greet on Sunday from 2 to 5 p.m. at the Bemus Point Golf Club & Tap House.

This Meet and Greet will provide an opportunity for community members and business owners to come together while learning about the Bemus Point Business Association’s mission, events, and projects. Light refreshments will be provided.

Those interested in supporting Bemus Point’s small business community and events can become a social member for a $50 donation. Funds raised through this program will go toward future events, including the yearly Fourth of July fireworks display, Fall Fest, and more.

Social members will receive special updates and newsletters regarding projects and events, the ability to participate on committees, and will be listed on a Thank You page on our website, www.visitbemuspoint.com. Members that sign up during the Meet and Greet will also be mailed a coupon book with specials from many Bemus Point businesses.

Local author to be at bookstore

The Next Chapter Bookstore will welcome local author Dr. Karla-La. Dr. Karla-La has written several children’s books that are wonderfully illustrated and fun to read.

On Saturday, March 25, Dr. Karla-La will be signing her books from 1 to 3 p.m. Copies of her books will be available to purchase. She will be back in the bookstore on April 1 and 8 from 1 to 3 p.m. with her newest book, “Water Rabbit.”

April chicken barbecue planned

The East Dunkirk Ladies Auxiliary is hosting its April chicken barbecue on Thursday, April 20. It will be at the East Dunkirk Fire Hall, 10949 S. Roberts Road, Dunkirk. Tickets are $12 and are available from members or Big Rick’s One Stop. Dinners will be sold from 4 to 6 p.m. or until sold out with drive-through and eat-in available.
