The Bookshop, located at 319 Washington Ave., home of the Chautauqua County Rural Ministry, Inc. offers students the opportunity to visit the bookshop and select four books free of charge to start their library.

Additional books can be purchased at a nominal cost. Each student is given a voucher for four free books to be used as a class project, or independent visit.

Any instructors interested in knowing more about the Book Shop can schedule a time to visit. Please contact Sherry Lantz at 366-1787, or cell 814 881-6901 for more information. E-mail annlan@yahoo.com, or ccrmsahl@gmail.com.

Sheridan VFW Auxiliary elects officers

SHERIDAN — The Sheridan VFW Auxiliary met at the post on April 9 at 6:30. At this meeting the auxiliary elected officers for the coming year. Installation will be at our June meeting. The recent bake sale was successful and members were able to add additional money to our regular donations for this month.

The World War II Museum in New Orleans and the Semper K9 will be this month’s donations. Semper K9 is a nonprofit that trains service dogs to provide physical and emotional support to US Armed Forces veterans and their families.

The next bake sale will be on May 17 at the post. Following the business meeting we signed well over 100 cards of thanks and well wishes for veterans who will be going on the Buffalo Niagara Honor Flight to Washington D.C. later this month. The cards will be distributed on the return flight from D.C. to the veterans as a “mail call” event that was a notable part of the veterans’ daily life when they were in the military.
