Fredonia plans brush pickup

The village of Fredonia will be picking up limbs and yard waste beginning Monday at 7 a.m. collection will continue until every village street has been completed.

Bags and brush are collected separately by different crews. All items for collection must be at the curb no later than 7 a.m. In no case will there be a repeat collection of areas completed.

All yard waste must be bagged or in barrels. Residents are encouraged to use biodegradable bags or barrels and all limbs and brush must be tied with twine. Limbs and brush must be cut no longer than 4 feet in length with bundles being no larger than 18 inches in diameter. Bundles and bags are limited to 65 pounds in weight. There is no collection of loose material and leaves will not be picked up.

Chicken barbecue planned for Aug. 11

The Blessed Mary Angela Holy Name Society is sponsoring a Weidner’s Drive-Thru Chicken BBQ on Sunday Aug. 11 from noon to 3 p.m. at the parish Social Center at 324 Townsend St. in Dunkirk. The dinner will feature Weidner’s BBQ chicken, mashed potatoes and gravy with mixed vegetables, roll and butter.

Tickets are available for a $15 donation at the Parish office at the Holy Trinity complex at 1032 Central Ave., Big Rick’s on Lake Shore Drive East and Lil Ginger’s Deli on Central Avenue in Dunkirk.

Also on sale at the BBQ will be spaghetti dinner tickets for a fundraiser for Rhonda Daminski

CVCS planning board meeting

SINCLAIRVILLE — The regular monthly meeting of the Board of Education of the Cassadaga Valley Central School District will be on Wednesday at 6 p.m. in the Middle High School Multi-Purpose Room.

Registration open for Striders Feather Memorial 5K

Registration is open for the Chautauqua Striders Dan Feather Memorial 5K

Chautauqua Striders is excited to announce that registration is now open for the annual Dan Feather Memorial 5K. This event will take place on Sunday, Sept. 1, at Bergman Park. The race will begin at 9:30 a.m.

The Dan Feather Memorial 5K is a cherished tradition, honoring the memory of Dan Feather, a dedicated community member and avid runner. Participants of all ages and abilities are encouraged to join in this celebration of community and remembrance.

Proceeds from the event will support Chautauqua Striders’ athletic programming.

Roblin Coffee club to meet Aug. 9

Roblin Steel Coffee club will be gathering at Demetris Restaurant, Dunkirk at 9 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 9. All former employees, family, friends are always invited to attend.

Cemetery group meeting Tuesday

The monthly meeting of Willowbrook Park Cemetery will be on Tuesday at 7 p.m. in the Mackowiak Funeral Home on Doughty Street. All are welcome.

Library hosting story theater

BROCTON — The Ahira Hall Memorial Library will be hosting Gail Golden at 3:45 p.m. today. Through interactive story theater, the show will venture off the beaten path and explore Dragonland, a dark forest, and an ancient Scottish castle.

This is a very participatory show that includes puppets, dancing, a sword fight, and lots of opportunities for flights of fantasy!
