Fredonia concert series continues
The remaining Fredonia concert schedule includes: Wednesday, Jess and the Mess; Tuesday, Aug. 13, ’80s Night with “That 80s Hairband”; Aug. 14, ’70s Disco Night with “Sequins”; Aug. 21, Party McFly;
Times are always 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. in the gazebo in Barker Commons.
Trinity United Church of Christ free community meal
GOWANDA — The Trinity United Church, located at Erie Avenue and Park Street, Gowanda, will host a take-out only free community meal at the Park Street entrance on Saturday from 4 to 6 p.m. or gone. The menu is pulled pork sandwiches, potatoes, cole slaw, applesauce and cookies. Free will donations are appreciated but not necessary. Drive East Main to Railroad Avenue and then down Park Street, following the signs, or walk up. Everyone is welcome. The next meal is Sept. 14.
Leon Town Picnic planned for Aug. 17
LEON — The Leon Annual Town Picnic will be Aug. 17 at the Leon Fire Hall. Festivities will begin at noon with food starting at 1 p.m. This event is open to all Leon fire district residents, past and present.
The picnic is sponsored by the Leon Fire Commissioners in conjunction with the Leon Town Board, the Historical Society and the Leon Fire Company, 1, Inc. and Auxiliary.
BBQ chicken, hotdogs, condiments, paper products and non-alcoholic drinks are provided free of charge. Event attendees are encouraged to bring a dish to pass.
Fire equipment will be on display, a gift/basket raffle will be held, 50-50’s, games for adults and children, Penny Royal displays, historical displays and music.
The event is an old-fashioned picnic that provides the opportunity to meet new neighbors, reconnect with old neighbors/friends, and reminisce in a relaxed, comfortable atmosphere.
Conservancy sets annual meeting Aug. 15
MAYVILLE — The Chautauqua Watershed Conservancy will hold its 2024 annual meeting at the Chautauqua Suites Hotel & Expo Center in Mayville on Thursday, Aug. 15 from 5 to 8 p.m. Brian Gottfried, a senior engineering technician for the Great Lakes/Atlantic Region of Ducks Unlimited, will be the featured speaker.
A welcome reception with refreshments and heavy hors d’oeuvres will start at 5pm, followed by the meeting at 5:30 p.m. with an activities report, programs update, and financial update. At 6:45 p.m., Gottfried will speak about a joint mitigation project between Ducks Unlimited and the Conservancy and also talk about the importance of land conservation for water quality.
The meeting is open to both Conservancy members and the public. The cost of attendance is $65 per person, which includes refreshments and heavy hors d’oeuvres. A cash bar will also be available.
