Coffee Club gathers Friday

Roblin Steel Coffee club will be gathering at Demetri’s Restaurant, Dunkirk, at 9 a.m. Friday.

Humane Society sets monthly general membership meeting

JCC hosting second Veterans Day 5K

JAMESTOWN – SUNY Jamestown Community College’s Veterans and Military Aligned Student Club is hosting its second annual Veterans Day 5K run/walk on Saturday, Nov. 9.

Registration begins at 10 a.m. at the Jamestown Campus Physical Education Complex parking lot, with the race starting at 11 a.m. Prizes will be awarded to the top three male and female finishers.

Cost to participate is $10 for students and veterans and $20 for community members. Register online at sunyjcc.edu/events by navigating to the race event on the calendar. You can prepay entry fees or on the day of the race. Checks should be made out to JCC FSA.

Proceeds from the 5K support JCC’s Veterans Scholarship Fund and club activities. The first event, held last year, raised more than $300.

20th Fall Sweep slated for Nov. 10

The Applied Communication Association (ACA) at the State University of New York at Fredonia is once again hosting Fall Sweep.

It is the 20th year that student volunteers will go around town and rake leaves at community members’ homes and spend time team-building with their own clubs or groups.

The event will be on Sunday, Nov. 10 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., and will begin in the Multipurpose Room of the Williams Center. Sign-in starts at 11 a.m., a welcome ceremony will start at 11:30 a.m. and there will be food and basket raffles.

After the welcome ceremony, students will be sent out to begin their work.
