Chicken barbecue planned for June 14

The Lakeshore Humane Society, 431 E. Chestnut St., Dunkirk will hold a Weidner’s chicken barbecue on Saturday, June 14 from noon to 3 p.m. $15 tickets include a half chicken, buttered potatoes, cole slaw, roll and butter. Purchase pre-sale tickets by June 5 online at lakeshorehumanesociety.org (see the LHS homepage) or in-person at LHS Open Adoption Hours, Wednesdays from 6 to 8 p.m.; Saturdays from noon to 3 p.m. Presale ticket purchase is strongly encouraged; a limited number of dinners might be available the day of the event but not assured. The Cat’s Meow Boutique will be open for purchases by the public. All proceeds benefit the efforts of the Lakeshore Humane Society to provide safe, loving homes for dogs and cats in need. Quattrone to speak at SCOPE meeting

MAYVILLE — S.C.O.P.E. is Shooters Committee on Political Education. The next Chautauqua County SCOPE meeting is Tuesday at 7 p.m. Sheriff Jim Quattrone will be the guest speaker on gun law legislation. Tickets are still available for the gun raffle winner to be drawn tonight. Please join discussions “Defending the rights of New York gun owners” at VFW 8647, 10 Memorial Drive.

Family breakfast planned for Sunday

Forest Lodge 166 F&AM will be holding its monthly Sunday Family Breakfast from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. This all-you-can-eat breakfast will consist of eggs made to order, pancakes or French Toast, sausages, fruit cocktail, juice, milk, coffee and tea. Adults and teenagers 13 and up, $12; children 5-12, $6 and youth under 5 are free.

This breakfast is open to the public, and everyone is welcome and cordially invited to attend. Anyone with interests in, or has questions about Free Masonry will be given a tour of the building at the asking. Forest Lodge is at 321 E. Main St., Fredonia.

Veterans 4 Christ have brunch, ceremony Saturday

BROCTON — Veterans 4 Christ will have a free brunch for veterans and active military personnel plus a guest on Saturday. Brunch will be at 10 a.m. in Tri-Church Parish, 41 E. Main St., Brocton. The group is also honored to host the Quilts of Valor ceremony at 11:30 a.m. During this ceremony, 19 veterans will be presented with a Quilt of Valor. These quilts have been designed and sewn by local seamstresses from Western New York.
