Church plans community giveaway
Good Hope Baptist Church at 215 Eagle St., Dunkirk, is having a community giveaway on Saturday. The event is from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. There will be a slightly used clothing giveaway, along with a variety of items that include sandals, adult lunch bags and other pieces.
Veterans 4 Christ gather Saturday
BROCTON — This Saturday there will be a free brunch for veterans and active-duty military plus one at Tri-Church Parish at 10 a.m. as part of the Veterans 4 Christ. Tri-Church Parish is a handicap accessible facility. The guest speaker will talk about benefits that veterans are entitled to but possibly do not know about. As always the brunch consists of delicious homemade breakfast foods that are served buffet style and Paula’s Donuts. For more information, please contact Wes Tessey at 716-640-9883.
Community Art Nights set for Mondays
SINCLAIRVILLE — Sinclairville Free Library is still taking registrations for our last two Community Art Nights for the summer.
For the Birds with Erin Gray on Monday 18th at 6 p.m. Learn about local artist Roger Tory Peterson and the library’s Day Adventure Pass Program. Each participant will create a parrot drawing using their handprint and other art mediums.
Art of Succulents will be Monday, Aug. 25 at 5 p.m. Learn how to care for and propagate succulents. Each participant can create a small decorative hanging planter with real succulents. Different succulents to select from along with decorative items.
The library will also be hosting an Ice Cream Social to celebrate the end of summer reading on Thursday, Sept. 4 from 5 to 7 p.m. Last chance to turn in your reading logs for prizes.
Programs provided using funding from the Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Library System’s Mini Summer Reading Grant 2025. Along with sponsorship from Cassadaga Valley Central School’s Sinclairville Elementary PTO and Ross Grange.

St. Rose of Lima event Aug. 23
FORESTVILLE — St. Rose of Lima in Forestville, which has been closed by the Diocese of Buffalo in its “Road to Renewal,” will open for a Mass on Saturday, Aug. 23, at noon, to celebrate Feast Day of St. Rose of Lima. All residents are invited to attend at 11 Center St. Following the Mass, there will be a chicken and potluck luncheon. The day of the event was incorrect in Thursday’s edition.
