Zoar Valley ceremony this morning

COLLINS — The Zoar Valley Coalition will honor Herb F. Darling Sr. and his family with a special tree planting ceremony in the preserve at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 16. Darling donated almost 1,500 acres of land in 1961 to preserve what is now one of Western New York’s wildest and most cherished forests. The public is welcome to attend at Ross Pond Trailhead at Vail and Unger roads.

CVCS plans special meeting

A special meeting of the Board of Education of the Cassadaga Valley Central School District will be held on Monday at 4 p.m. in the District Office Conference Room.

Quilting Companions plan Wednesday meeting

The Northern Chautauqua Quilting Companions will be meeting Wednesday at 6 p.m. at Harvest Chapel, 39 Matteson St., Fredonia. The guest presenter is Janice Shoup of Quilter’s Haven, Lakewood. There will be a trunk show and instruction on making paper ornaments. Guests are welcome to attend.

Class of 1960 holding reunion

The Fredonia High School Class of 1960 will be holding its 65th reunion on Friday and Saturday, Aug. 23. The Saturday evening dinner will be at the White Inn. Classmates will gather Friday night at Coughlan’s Pub at 6:30 p.m. and are inviting friends for the evening.
