Humane Society to meet
The next general membership meeting of the Lakeshore Humane Society will take place at the Lakeshore Humane Society Adoption Center, 431 E. Chestnut St., Dunkirk, on Thursday, Dec. 18 at 6:30 p.m. The public is welcome. See www.lakeshorehumanesociety.org or call 716-672-1991 for information.
Steel breakfast club to gather
SHERIDAN — The Roblin Steel breakfast club meets again Friday, Dec. 12 at the new location in Sheridan at the Crossroads Diner. It is located at Route 20 and Center Road.
As always, all former employees are invited to attend.
Winter concert planned
GOWANDA — Gowanda Middle School’s Winter Band & Chorus Concert is scheduled Tuesday with the grade five to six performance at 6 p.m. and the grade seven and eight performance at 7:30 p.m. in the auditorium at Gowanda High School on Prospect Street. The concert is free and open to the community.
Fred Basket lists December hours
On Saturday, Dec. 20, Fred Basket — previously known as The Fredonia Food Pantry — will be open from 10 a.m. until noon at Fredonia Presbyterian Church at 219 Central Ave. Additionally, it is open on Wednesdays from 12:30 to 4:30 p.m. Guests may only receive one helping a month.
These new hours hope to serve those who cannot attend on Saturdays the food pantry serves the needs of residents of Fredonia, ZIP code 14063, Pomfret, Sheridan, and Laona. All guests receive one or more bags of non-perishable food. The number of bags given out depends on family size.
The pantry will be closed Wednesday, Dec. 24 and 31, but will be open Tuesday, Dec. 23 and 30 instead.
