Jump in lake being replaced Saturday

CASSADAGA – Due to the cold temperatures, in conjunction with the Chautauqua County Water Rescue Team, the Citizens for a Better Cassadaga has announced there will not be a jump in the lake on Saturday during the Winter Festival. Instead attendees will gather on the lake to make snow angels. All are welcome.

The fun at the beach will still take place from noon to 2 p.m. with free hot chili, hot coffee from Tim Hortons and making s’mores over a fire.

Access Chautauqua Schedule for Jan. 31 to Feb. 6

Access Chautauqua, carried on Spectrum cable channel 1301, will have the following shows for the period January 31 through February 6.

Chautauqua Sunrise, hosted by Randy Burt, will have guest Leslie Willie, Northern Chautauqua Community Foundation. The program is live at 9:00 AM on Saturday, then repeats at 2:00 PM and 8:00 PM each day.

Fresh Perspectives, hosted by Gail Erb, features Dr. Robert Berke, Immunizations and the Scrambler. The program is at 3:00 PM and 9:00 PM.

Westfield sets special Village Board meeting

The Westfield Village Board of Trustees will hold a special work session meeting on Thursday, Feb. 5 at 6 p.m. in the North Room of Eason Hall.

Al Tech/ Dunkirk Specialty Steel Retirees to meet

The Al Tech/Dunkirk Specialty Steel Retirees will meet Saturday, Feb. 7, 8:30 a.m. at the Central Station Restaurant in Dunkirk. All retirees are invited to attend.

Cassadaga Legion Auxiliary meets

The Cassadaga American Legion Auxiliary Unit 1280 held their regular monthly meeting Tuesday, January 13th, with all officers present. The previous meeting minutes were read, and the treasurer’s report given. Paula Pattison, reported that she continues to send get well and sympathy cards as needed. Unit 1280 membership is currently at 80% paid for the year. We are still accepting 2026 dues. You can pay $30 at the bar, or mail to: Sally Lawson, 228 Maple Ave, Cassadaga 14718.

In conjunction with the Cassadaga Village Winterfest, the Cassadaga Legion is sponsoring the “Untouchables Band” Friday Jan. 30 from 6:30-9:30 at the Cassadaga Legion Hall, 228 Maple Avenue, Cassadaga.

There will be a Vendor Show at the Legion, Saturday, Jan. 31 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Sunday, Feb. 1, a Cornhole Tournament in the Legion Hall.

Correspondence was read, with thank you notes from the Dunkirk Lighthouse Purple Heart Trail donation, the local Food Pantries, and Citizens for a Better Cassadaga, (CBC).

Members present donated to the ALA Department President’s Project which is divided between the Empire Girl’s State Program and the Military Women’s Memorial next to Arlington cemetery. Weather permitting, the next Unit meeting will be Tuesday, Feb. 10 at 6:30 p.m. at the Legion Post. All members are encouraged to attend, to help the mission to help our Veterans and community.
