Class of 1966 reunion plans underway
The committees for the 1966 graduating classes from Dunkirk High School and Cardinal Mindzenty High School will be hosting a 60th reunion weekend. The festivities will begin on Friday, Aug. 7 with a combined DHS and CMHS reunion at the Clarion/Steelbound Pavillion in Dunkirk. On Saturday, Aug. 8, CMHS will hold a catered reunion at the Dunkirk Lighthouse Pavilion. Also on that day, the DHS reunion will be dinner and music at 64 On The Rocks in Fredonia.
Fliers with more detailed information and a response form have already been sent out but we are still in need of contact information for many classmates. ‘Love Remembered’ bake sale Saturday
SOUTH DAYTON — The Villenova Burial Association will be holding its ninth annual “Love Remembered” Bake Sale in the entryway of the South Dayton Supermarket on Saturday starting at 9 a.m. There will be dozens of homemade pies, bread, cookies, candy, cupcakes, cakes and other items.
There will also be a donation box. The fundraiser theme, “Love Remembered”, is a symbol of remembering those held close in our hearts during this holiday celebrating love! All proceeds will help defray the maintenance and operating costs of the Villenova Cemetery. The event also offers an opportunity for members of the community to learn about the Association and how they might help in efforts to maintain and preserve the over 200-year-old cemetery.
Sons of Legion to hold meeting
BROCTON — The Brocton Sons of the Legion will hold their monthly meeting on Tuesday, Feb. 10. The meeting will be at the Brocton Legion starting at 7 p.m. Final plans for the chili cook-off , to be held on Feb. 15, will be finalized.
Humane Society sets monthly membership meeting
The Lakeshore Humane Society will hold a monthly general membership meeting on Thursday, Feb. 19 at the Lakeshore Humane Society Adoption Center, 431 E. Chestnut St., Dunkirk at 6:30 p.m. The public is welcome. See www.lakeshorehumanesociety.org or call 716-672-1991 for information.
