Debate for county clerk is Oct. 14 JAMESTOWN — The League of Women Voters of Chautauqua County will host a Candidate Forum between Gregory Carlson and Gregory Krauza, candidates for Chautauqua County clerk. Fall Fest takes place this weekend FORESTVILLE — The Forestville Fall Festival will be Saturday and Sunday at the Forestville High School. The committee has decorated the downtown area to welcome guests. Vendors will fill the gym and hallway. There will be food available outside. There will be baked goods, sweets, produce and a huge variety of crafts. There will be free activities for children. Everyone is welcome to take part in the Chili cook-off. Mission of Helping Hands seeks donations Kevin Weaver, Jack Herman, Roger Herron, and Sarah Lewis with Mission of Helping Hands will be going to Swannanoa Valley, North Carolina Oct. 12 to help in recovery efforts from Hurricane Helene. This will be the fourth time Weaver and others have visited North Carolina, doing recovery work. The team will be building homes, clearing land, etc. Donations are sought to buy supplies and materials needed to get families back in their homes. Fall colors reaching peak New York State’s first bursts of peak fall color are anticipated to arrive this weekend in some parts of the Adirondacks and Catskills, with near-peak and midpoint-of-change foliage spreading through much of the rest of those regions and in a few other areas of the state. Apple Butter Fest set for Oct. 11 WESTFIELD — The West Portland Baptist Church, 7081 E. Route 20, Westfield, will be hosting its 11th annual Apple Butter Festival on Saturday, Oct. 11 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The event will have old-fashioned kettle cooked apple butter available for a donation and there will be more than 40 vendors offering various sale items including food vendors.
