Camp Gross golf tourney this weekend CASSADAGA — The seventh annual Dr. John R.and Alona Forbes Golf Tournament and Basket Raffle will be this Friday and Saturday at the Cassadaga County Club, Frisbee Road. The Basket Raffle begins on Friday from 4 to 7:30 p.m. outside of the Pro Shop, enjoy a delicious dinner at the CCC and support Camp Gross in the process. The Tournament begins with a shot-gun start at 9 a.m. with registration at 8 on Saturday and the basket raffle continues until noon. Golfers are still needed to fill out the course. Vegetarian/Vegan Society plans meal WESTFIELD — The August meeting of the Chautauqua Vegetarian/Vegan Society will take place on Sunday, Aug. 17 from 1 to 3 p.m., at the YWCA. Following the Potluck dinner there will be a speaker. The group will welcome the August speaker: Carol Markham from the Chautauqua Watershed Conservancy. Markham is knowledgeable about native plants and their important part in our ecosystem. Author to be at bookstore Saturday Romance author Joan Wahl will be appearing at the Next Chapter Bookstore on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wahl is a lifelong resident of Chautauqua County. She is a wife, mother, grandmother, and secretary at the Jamestown law firm of Wright Calimeri, PLLC. She first traveled to Music City in 2015 to visit filming locations from the television show Nashville and fell in love with the city. Brush pick-up planned for Monday The village of Fredonia will be picking up limbs and yard waste beginning Monday at 7 a.m. Collection will continue until every village street has been completed. Bags and brush are collected separately by different crews. All items for collection must be at the curb no later than 7 Monday morning. In no case will there be a repeat collection of areas completed. All yard waste must be bagged or in barrels.
