Vegetarian/Vegan Society plans meal WESTFIELD — The August meeting of the Chautauqua Vegetarian/Vegan Society will take place on Sunday, Aug. 17 from 1 to 3 p.m., at the YWCA. Following the Potluck dinner there will be a speaker. The group will welcome the August speaker: Carol Markham from the Chautauqua Watershed Conservancy. Markham is knowledgeable about native plants and their important part in our ecosystem. Author to be at bookstore Saturday Romance author Joan Wahl will be appearing at the Next Chapter Bookstore on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wahl is a lifelong resident of Chautauqua County. She is a wife, mother, grandmother, and secretary at the Jamestown law firm of Wright Calimeri, PLLC. She first traveled to Music City in 2015 to visit filming locations from the television show Nashville and fell in love with the city. Brush pick-up planned for Monday The village of Fredonia will be picking up limbs and yard waste beginning Monday at 7 a.m. Collection will continue until every village street has been completed. Bags and brush are collected separately by different crews. All items for collection must be at the curb no later than 7 Monday morning. In no case will there be a repeat collection of areas completed. All yard waste must be bagged or in barrels. Can drive in city Saturday The Blessed Mary Angela Holy Name Society will hold a can drive at the Lake Shore Drive and Pangolin Street entrance of the old St. Hyacinth School. After the merger of Blessed Mary Angela Parish to Holy Trinity Parish takes place in February, the Old St. Hyacinth School will remain open as the Lord's Vineyard Catholic Education Center. The Blessed Mary Angela Holy Name Society will continue its ministry of support for Our Lord's Vineyard out of the school. Church plans indoor, hot dog sale SILVER CREEK — Trinity Lutheran Church, through a generous grant from Thrivent Financial, will be holding its 15th annual indoor yard sale on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Featured are a large selection of Amish novels, games, craft supplies, hundreds of greeting cards and tools from two garage cleanings!
