23 new COVID cases announced Saturday in county

Twenty-three new cases of the coronavirus were reported on Saturday in Chautauqua County, bringing the total for the last seven days to 186.

The Health Department will not be releasing detailed information on the new cases until Monday. Since the Thursday, the county has announced 88 cases without further detail.

Overall, there are now 1,652 COVID-19 cases in the county since the beginning of the pandemic.

On Friday, Cattaraugus County announced 28 new cases bringing its total to 1,055. There are 363 active cases and 665 total recovered with 17 hospitalized. The percentage of positive tests were at 6.8% over seven days.

Those numbers led Cattaraugus County’s public health director to speculate that on Monday it could be in a “yellow zone” cluster. Erie County is currently in an “orange zone” cluster due to high positivity rates.
