County reports 5 new COVID deaths

Five new COVID-related deaths were announced Friday morning by the Chautauqua County Department of Health. To date there have been 134 fatalities. The county also recorded 43 new confirmed cases, marking 7,213 since the pandemic began. Of those, 18 came from Jamestown, six from Dunkirk and four from Fredonia. The number of active cases continues to drop, from 233 reported Thursday to 229 on Friday; the number of people with the virus in the hospital remains at 27, while the seven-day positivity rate dropped to 3.2%, down from the 4.4% announced Thursday.

Active COVID cases, hospitalizations drop in county

Chautauqua County's COVID hospitalizations, active cases and seven-day positivity rate all fell in numbers released on Thursday. The county Health Department reported 32 new COVID cases, along with one new death related to the virus. To date, there have been 7,170 total confirmed cases and 129 fatalities. Chautauqua County crossed 7,000 confirmed cases of COVID-19 over the weekend, continuing what has been a frenetic pace since the holidays. The county Health Department announced 121 new cases Monday, bringing the total to 7,081 during the pandemic — now nearing a year. County reports 18 new COVID cases, 2 deaths

The Chautauqua County Department of Health reported 18 new COVID cases along with two additional virus-related deaths on Tuesday. To date there have been 7,099 confirmed cases and 127 people who have died with the virus. There were currently 245 active cases, 28 people with the virus in the hospital and 672 people in quarantine. Of the new cases, one came from the Dunkirk zip code, three from Fredonia, three from Jamestown, four from Falconer and two from Westfield.
