County reports 40th COVID death, 61 new cases

Another fatality from COVID-19 was reported by the Chautauqua County Health Department on Thursday. Cuomo wants all nursing home residents vaccinated in two weeks

Gov. Andrew Cuomo is criticizing the federal government for the slow vaccine rollout and said the state will assist in getting it out faster. On Tuesday, Cuomo noted that the federal government distributes the vaccines to states. Statewide, New York has been getting around 300,000 doses a week. He didn’t offer a breakdown by region. “We hope, pray and expect the supply from the federal government will be increasing,” he said during a news conference. County reports 3 new COVID deaths, 113 cases

Three new COVID-19-related deaths were announced Wednesday by the Chautauqua County Department of Health. To date, 39 people have died due to complications associated with the virus. The county also announced 113 new confirmed cases, bringing the total to 4,309. The number of people in the hospital with the virus dropped two to 49. There were 651 active cases as of Wednesday. Of the new cases recorded, 15 involve people living in the Dunkirk zip code, 10 in Fredonia, 42 in Jamestown, five in Kennedy and nine in Lakewood.
