Stolen clothing, drugs found during stop

Bags of clothing found to have been stolen from a charity bin, along with drugs, were discovered during a traffic stop this week.

The Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office announced the arrests of Kimberly L. Ferguson, 36, of Kennedy, and Susan L. Garmon, 47, of Jamestown, following a stop at 1 a.m. Thursday on Interstate 86 in the town of Ellicott.

In a news release, the Sheriff’s Office said deputies observed several large bags of clothing in the vehicle, which was stopped for a violation on the interstate. It was found that the clothing had been stolen from a charity donation bin on Strunk Road.

A search of the vehicle found that Ferguson was allegedly in possession of Suboxone while Garmon was allegedly in possession of a hypodermic syringe and a quantity of methamphetamine.

Ferguson is facing charges of seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, fifth-degree criminal possession of stolen property, petit larceny and inadequate muffler.

Garmon is facing charges of seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and criminally possessing a hypodermic instrument.

The pair was issued tickets to appear in Ellicott Town Court later.
