Winter storm warning begins after midnight

A winter storm warning is in effect for Chautauqua County and neighboring Cattaraugus and southern Erie counties beginning at 1 a.m. Tuesday and lasting through 1 p.m. Wednesday.

The National Weather Service says heavy snow expected with accumulations of 8 to 15 inches, with the greatest amounts expected along the Chautauqua Ridge and Boston Hills with winds gusting as high as 35 mph.

Forecasters say travel could become very difficult. The hazardous conditions could impact the morning and evening commutes both Tuesday and Wednesday.
