UPDATE: Four injured in Route 5 rollover accident

A one-vehicle rollover accident around 9:30 a.m. Saturday caused three people to be ejected and one to be extricated from a vehicle on Route 5 near Bayshore Drive in the town of Pomfret.

Fredonia Fire Department, via its Facebook page, noted it responded to the accident that is currently under investigation by the New York State Police. West Dunkirk Fire set up a landing zone at Shorewood Country club to assist those involved in the accident as three helicopters were called to the incident.

One person was sent to Erie County Medical Center in Buffalo by helicopter and two were sent to UPMC Hamot in Erie by helicopter. One as taken to Brooks-TLC Hospital System by Ambulance.

Rescue 12, Rescue 15, Engine 15 and M 15 responded from Fredonia. Mutual aid came from Brocton Fire Department for an ambulance, Alstar Ambulance, West Dunkirk for a landing zone, Mercy Flight and Stat Medivac for two helicopters. Chautauqua County Emergency Services, Chautauqua County Sheriff, Dunkirk Police and Fredonia Police assisted.

“A great job was done by all,” Fredonia Fire reported.
