Dunkirk man injured in Route 39 rollover

SHERIDAN — Minor injuries were reported in an early Saturday morning accident on Route 39.

Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Deputies and EMS were dispatched to a reported one-vehicle personal injury accident on Route 39 around 12:43 a.m. Upon investigation, the operator of the vehicle, Efrain J. Alguir-Rodriguez, 25, of Dunkirk was traveling westbound on Route 39 and was attempting to pass a westbound vehicle in a no passing zone. During the time of the incident, another vehicle was traveling eastbound on Route 39. Alguir-Rodriguez in an attempt to avoid hitting the eastbound vehicle head on did attempt to pull over to the left shoulder of the road and lost control of his vehicle, driving off the road, rolling his vehicle hitting a tree and snapping power utility pole.

Alguir-Rodriguez did suffer minor injuries and was treated at the scene by Sheridan Fire Department and Chautauqua County EMS. National Grid was later on scene replacing the power pole.

Alguir-Rodriguez was issued traffic tickets to appear in the Town of Sheridan Court at a later date.
