Dunkirk house fire ‘incendiary’ in origin
No one was injured in a Dunkirk fire Tuesday night apparently caused by arson.
The Dunkirk Fire Department reports its firefighters were called to a report of a house fire at the intersection of Franklin Avenue and West Courtney Street at 11:07 p.m. While they were responding, the address was updated by a dispatcher to 123 Franklin Ave.
“Upon arrival, crews found a small amount of fire at ground level that had damaged the side of the house,” the fire department stated. “Firefighters extinguished the fire with a water extinguisher. Crews remained on scene for approximately 90 minutes. There were no injuries.”
The Dunkirk Police Department and Chautauqua County fire investigators assisted at the scene.
“Investigators have ruled the cause of the fire as incendiary,” DFD stated.
