WELLSVILLE — Two teenagers died after an early morning crash on Tarantine Boulevard Saturday.

At 2:24 a.m., State Police at Amity responded to a single vehicle collision. An investigation determined that a 2020 Buick Encore was traveling eastbound. The Buick exited the north shoulder of the road on a sharp curve striking a utility pole on the driver’s side. The Buick had a total of six teen occupants.

The 17-year-old operator, 14-year-old front passenger, 16-year-old and 15-year-old rear passengers had minor injuries. They were transported to Jones Memorial Hospital.

Derrick J. Smith, 17, of Canisteo, was riding in the tailgate area of the SUV and was pronounced deceased at the scene. Gavin Odell, 18 of Canisteo, was sitting behind the operator and was pronounced deceased at the scene.

An autopsy has been scheduled for both deceased. No signs of impairment.
