City man charged after harassing others with machete

A Dunkirk man is facing charges after swinging a machete while walking near the 300 block of Main Street on Sunday night.

Jonathan Gonzalez-Colon, 34, was charged with second-degree reckless endangerment, disorderly conduct and second-degree harassment. At approximately 8:22 p.m., Dunkirk Police officers responded to calls of a man wielding a large machete and wildly swinging it at passersby. Upon arrival officers observed the suspect, later identified as Gonzalez-Colon. Gonzalez-Colon refused officers commands to drop the machete, and then spit in the face of an officer while being taken into custody.

He was transported to police headquarters where he was processed and issued appearance tickets.
