Man charged in Fredonia armed robbery

A man is being charged after an armed robbery in downtown Fredonia on Thursday afternoon. At 4 p.m., the Fredonia Police Department received a 911 call reporting the incident had occurred at DP Dough at 13 E. Main St. A description of the assailant and last known direction of travel was obtained. After a radio broadcast, assistance was received from officers of the City of Dunkirk Police. Train hits tractor trailer; no injuries reported

A train hit a tractor trailer at 3742 Progress Drive on Wednesday morning. Departments responding include East Dunkirk, Sheridan, and Emergency Services as well as the New York State Police. The incident was called in around 7:37 a.m. Injuries are unknown at this time.

Wind advisory in effect through 1 a.m. Thursday

A wind advisory is in effect from 1 p.m. Wednesday to 1 a.m. Thursday, according to the National Weather Service. Forecasters are expecting west winds 25 to 35 mph with gusts up to 50 mph. Gusty winds will blow around unsecured objects. Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result.
