Ripley fire blamed on boiler valve

RIPLEY -- A malfunctioning gas boiler valve was blamed in a morning fire. Around 7:13 a.m. Monday, the Ripley Fire Department and multiple mutual aid departments responded to a residential structure fire on NE Sherman Road in the town. After extinguishing the fire, the Chautauqua County Fire Investigation Team was requested to the scene to conduct an origin and cause probe. Investigators were able to the determine the fire originated in the basement of the structure and caused by gas boiler valve.

Brant resident charged with seeking explicit photos of juvenile

VILLENOVA – An Erie County resident is accused of trying to get explicit photos from an underage individual. On Sept. 26, the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division initiated an investigation in the town of Villenova regarding inappropriate communications with a juvenile victim.
