Four injured after boats collide on Chautauqua Lake

MAYVILLE --- Four individuals were taken to regional hospitals after a boat collision on Saturday night in Chautauqua Lake. The Sheriff's Office was dispatched to Prendergast Boulevard around 11:10 p.m. for the incident. There was three people on one boat and five on the other. Three victims were injured from the accident and transported to UPMC Chautauqua in Jamestown for their injuries, and one was then flown to UPMC Hamot in Erie for non-life-threatening injuries. Rough waters claim life of Forestville boy, 15, in Evans

ANGOLA --- The Evans Police Department is investigating a drowning in the rough waters that took place at Lake Erie Beach Park on Friday, claiming the life of a 15-year-old Forestville boy. Police, in a release issued Saturday, said they responded at 3:31 p.m. to the report of the boy who had reportedly gone underwater and did not resurface. The teen was located after being spotted by park lifeguards who then removed him from the lake and began life-saving measures until additional emergency personnel arrived. Threats in Hanover lead to charges for Hanover man

HANOVER --- An incident early Friday with a weapon has led to charges. Around 12:01 a.m., members of the Chautauqua County Sheriff's Office responded to an altercation. Through an investigation it was found that 38-year-old Jamar Fountain or Irving to have intentionally placed a person of reasonable fear of serious physical injury by displaying a deadly weapon. Fountain was located a short time later and taken into custody on second-degree harassment and second-degree menacing charges. He was transported to the Chautauqua County Jail for Central Arraignment Program.

Heat wave puts state under Energy Watch

Unrelenting heat is again affecting the New York state grid. On Thursday afternoon, the New York Independent System Operator issued an Energy Watch due to a decline in operating reserves. The grid is operating normally at this time and there are adequate resources to meet forecasted demand. An Energy Watch is when operating reserves are expected to be lower than 2,620 MW for longer than 60 minutes.
