A 55-year-old man is facing a number of charges after an incident with a weapon on New Year's Eve. Dunkirk Police report Jerry J. Small was charged with third- and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon, third-degree menacing, trespass and second-degree harassment. COLLINS --- A Collins man is facing attempted murder charges after a five-hour standoff Tuesday in the town. New York State Police at Collins report the Bureau of Criminal Investigation charged Walter M. Blaze, 57, with second-degree attempted murder, first-degree attempted assault, second-degree assault and three counts of second-degree criminal mischief. UPDATE: Person in custody in possible Collins shooting incident

COLLINS --- One person is in custody after a possible shooting incident in the town this morning. At approximately 10:20 a.m. Tuesday, Troopers out of the Collins barracks responded to the incident at 3625 Edgewood Drive. An arrest was made around 5:20 p.m. A preliminary investigation is still ongoing and the State Police Special Operations Response Team, Bureau of Criminal Investigation and the Erie County Sheriff’s Office are on scene. The area has been evacuated for safety. Police said there is no public threat outside this area.

10 charged in thefts from city, town cemeteries

Ten area individuals have been arrested by the city of Dunkirk Police Department following a coordinated investigation into a series of larcenies committed at local cemeteries. Beginning in October, the Dunkirk Police Department received a report of thefts involving a large number of bronze vases and other grave markers taken from gravesites at Willowbrook Cemetery in the city of Dunkirk.
