Valley Historical Society Display at Chautauqua County Fair

The busy time is here for the Chautauqua County Fairgrounds with the annual fair. In the Floral Hall, there are many individual booth areas, and one of them is occupied by the Valley Historical Society of Sinclairville. The Valley Historical Society is the official historical society for the Cassadaga Valley area. This year’s display features an old time store with many old items from the museum. Also is a display board about the long time late Stockton Historian Helen Piersons. The display was planned by treasurer John Sipos and program chairman Susan W. Sipos. With the help of Kevin Washington, shown in the photograph, visiting from Maryland, the booth was set up and arranged by all three. The Valley Historical Society museum is located in Sinclairville at the corner of Main and Lester streets, and is open for tours at no cost on Sundays from 2 until 5 p.m. A tour guide is always present for tours. The historical society dates back to 1977, when the late John and Ruth Smith, and the Rev. John Rough saw a need to preserve the history of the Cassadaga Valley area.
