Comedians to perform at Gowanda Free Methodist Sept. 27

GOWANDA – Can you laugh yourself to a better relationship? Comedians Jay and Laura Laffoon will certainly say so. The husband and wife duo share the spotlight, Sept. 27, at Gowanda Free Methodist for the “Ultimate Date Night,” a comedy night for couples looking for a fun and meaningful night together.

Billed as the marriage “edu-tainers,” the Laffoon’s humorous and entertaining insights into men, women, and marriage gives couples permission to connect through laughter while offering them the courage to keep growing together.

The show is transparent, insightful, and full of inspiration for people in every relationship stage: dating, newly married, and those celebrating decades together.

As marriage counselors, authors and speakers, the Laffoons have interviewed thousands of couples about marriage and family issues and have no qualms about putting their marriage on display — flaws and all — for the good of relationships everywhere.

“Over the course of 30 years, there have been days I can remember when and where I got married, but for the life of me, I can’t remember why,” Laura smiles. “Our show looks at what happens when the ‘Streetcar Named Desire’ collides with the ‘Locomotive Named Reality.'”

Intertwined with their humor, however, is a serious message, one that speaks wisdom into the struggles and joys of the journey. “It takes courage to stay married,” says Jay. “We love to golf and one of our favorite golf quotes is from Tommy Armour who said, ‘If you want to play golf you’ve got to learn to love the struggle.’ Boy is that true for golf, but it’s also true in marriage.”

“Ultimate Date Night” regularly plays in cities across the country, while their weekly online show, Jay & Laura T.V., offers practical and witty tips on connecting both as a couple and a family.

Advance tickets are $30 per couple and $35 at the door. Purchase tickets online at fln.org/tickets or call the Family Life ticket office at 800-927-9083. Gowanda Free Methodist is located at 149 W. Main Street in Gowanda. Doors open at 6 p.m. and show starts at 7 p.m.
