Gowanda Fall Fest plans underway
Gowanda’s annual Harvest Heritage Fall Festival (FallFest for short) will be coming around again on the weekend of Sept. 29.
The 2018 FallFest will coincide with Gowanda Homecoming and is at the end of Spirit Week. Gowanda’s traditional Thursday/Friday Spirit Week parade, powder puff football game and homecoming football game will provide a wonderful lead into the festival weekend.
This year’s event is promising to be significantly larger than last year’s.
The Gowanda Free Library has already committed to having a magic show, scarecrow workshop and petting zoo for FallFest. Additionally, the Gowanda Area Chamber of Congress is currently organizing both a car show and craft show at the Gowanda American Legion for that weekend. They are also sponsoring a band to perform alongside the Car Show. Entry forms for the Chamber Car/Craft Shows are available on their website, http://gowandachamber.com. Enter early to assure yourself a spot.
Once again this year, the ‘Gowanda’s Favorite’ Scarecrow Contest will be held. So, it’s time for area businesses, organizations and school groups to start thinking about making a scarecrow this year. Additional events are in the works and there’s still time for businesses and organizations to add their own event to the schedule. Contact FallFest coordinator, Bill Peglowski, for additional information by e-mail at fallfest@gowanda-ny.com or by phone at 532-9178.
Watch for additional information in the OBSERVER. Information will also be posted on Facebook on the GowandaEvents page there and on the Fallfest 2018 page at GowandaOnline, http://gowanda-ny.com/fallfest/2018 where you will also find the in-process event calendar.
