Fundraisers assist Sinclairville fire victims

SINCLAIRVILLE — A Facebook fundraiser is trying to help a family that lost everything in a fire last weekend.

The Stein family home at 7025 Rood Road, where David and Jamie Stein lived with their three children, burned down. The cause of the fire is still under investigation. No one was injured, but according to the fundraiser page created by Jamie Stein’s sister, Jesika, “they have nothing but the clothes on their backs, unfortunately they did not have homeowners insurance so please, please anything you can do to help we would be so grateful.”

As of Sunday evening, the fundraiser had netted $3,397 from 85 people. The goal is $7,000.

Jamie Stein said Thursday she and her family appreciate any help they can get right now.

“It’s amazing how much donations and everything we’ve gotten,” she said. “It’s not even been a week yet. The support that’s coming in from all over, not just Chautauqua County, it’s from all over.”

There’s also a spaghetti dinner that will be held Nov. 17 at the Sinclairville Volunteer Fire Department at noon. Cost is $10 for adults, $5 for children and free under 2. There will be a 50/50 drawing, a chinese auction, a bake sale, and a coloring contest. Bands for the dinner are to be announced.

The Steins are staying with family members now. “We’re just taking it one day at a time,” Jamie Stein said. “There’s nothing else we can do.”

She added, “I just want to thank everybody. It’s just beyond words how much they’ve helped and are still helping, collecting donations. I just want everyone to know how thankful we are.”

The website address for the Stein fundraiser is www.facebook.com/donate/324209615033659.
