May 7 was National Teacher Appreciation Day and Upward Bound wanted to recognize high school teachers that have impacted their students. At Dunkirk High School, students chose one of three card designs, “Thanks for making us Smarties” (with Smarties candy), “You’re Out of This World” (with Orbit gum) or “You’re a Star Teacher” (with Starburst candy). The students then wrote a personal message for their chosen teacher, telling them how they’ve affected their lives. In the cafeteria, these cards were presented along with cupcakes.
