Annual United Way Charity Golf Classic kicks off this week

The United Way office will be holding an Early Bird basket raffle leading up to the sixth annual United Way Charity Golf Classic at Tri-County Country Club.

The United Way of Northern Chautauqua County is preparing for a busy week, kicking off on Monday and lasting through Friday. The sixth annual United Way Charity Golf Classic will take place at Tri-County Country Club on Friday and leading up to the special event, the United Way office will be holding an Early Bird basket raffle. In addition, Thursday, is GIVE BIG CHQ, a special online fundraising blitz highlighting over 90 Not for Profit charities located throughout Chautauqua County.

The golf tournament will feature more than 100 area golfers supporting the work of the United Way of Northern Chautauqua County while enjoying the rolling, scenic greens of the course. Golfers will have multiple opportunities to show off their skills with awards being handed out for longest drive and closest to the pin. As usual the tournament will feature other special games, raffles and prizes.

Unlike previous years, the community is invited to get in on the basket raffle by stopping by the United Way Office, 626 Central Ave., Dunkirk, to take part in an early bird basket raffle. Many of the baskets and prizes will be on display and available from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday to Thursday. Twenty baskets and gift certificate packages will be available, all donated by local shops, businesses, and restaurants or United Way board members, and supporters.

On Thursday, United Way of Northern Chautauqua County will be joining more than 90 local not-for-profit organizations taking part in GIVE BIG CHQ. Sponsored by the Chautauqua Region Community Foundation and Northern Chautauqua Community Foundation, the day will provide organizations a day to appeal to supporters from around the Region to make donations and aid in the important work they do. Several prizes are available for participating organizations. The United Way of Northern Chautauqua County is offering the community a free lunch, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. for anyone that stops by the office to learn more about the work they are doing.
