Pacos running for Pomfret town supervisor

Lifelong Pomfret resident and CPA Daniel W. Pacos has declared his candidacy for supervisor of the town of Pomfret in the Nov. 5 general election.

Pacos has served the town of Pomfret on its Planning Board for approximately 15 years. During this time, he worked with fellow Planning Board members to develop the town’s Comprehensive/Agricultural Protection Plan, Property Subdivision Regulations, Mobile Home Park Regulations, Wind Energy Conversion System Regulations, and various zoning ordinances including sign and billboard ordinances and recommendations for zoning revisions.

“My work with the Planning Board for well over a decade has given me a deep understanding of the issues that impact our community now and in the future,” he says. “With the upcoming retirement of current Supervisor Donald Steger, I see the opportunity to pursue the supervisor seat, a position in which I can further advance our strategies for the stability and well-being of our community.” Those strategies, he noted, include increased cooperation and collaboration with the village of Fredonia for sharing costs and services.

He points out that his training as a state-licensed Certified Public Accountant and 30 years of experience in school finance make him an excellent choice for town supervisor — a position in which he would function as the town’s treasurer and chief fiscal officer.

Pacos earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting from SUNY Fredonia and an MBA in Finance from St. Bonaventure University. He is employed as the assistant superintendent for Administration and Finance at the Lake Shore Central School District in Angola.

Dan and his wife, Kimberly, reside on Johnson Street in Fredonia. They have three sons: Kevin, Marc and Aaron.
