Person hospitalized after Thruway rollover
IRVING — One person was taken to the hospital following a rollover crash on Interstate 90 early Thursday.
Firefighters from Irving and Silver Creek were called to the eastbound lane of the interstate, between the Silver Creek and Eden/Angola exits, around 6:30 a.m. Initial reports indicated that a conversion van had left the road and was in water.
However, first responders arrived to find that the van had rolled onto its passenger side off the road. Extrication tools were requested at the scene.
According to trooper Tara McCormick, public information officer with the New York State Police, one occupant of the van was transported to ECMC in Buffalo. The severity of injuries wasn’t reported.
The eastbound lane of the interstate was reduced to one lane for a couple of hours. The cause of the crash was not immediately known.
