Silver Creek Central School hosts annual Senior Citizen Luncheon
SILVER CREEK — Silver Creek Central School District welcomed members of the Silver Creek Seniors and Sheridan Happy Seniors to a fall harvest-themed annual Senior Citizens’ Luncheon recently in the high school lobby.
Superintendent Todd A. Crandall began the luncheon with an update on the ongoing Capital Improvements Project, which is now in its third and final phase, as well as the start of the 2019-2020 academic year.
“We have a lot of exciting things happening on our campus,” said Crandall in his welcome remarks. He encouraged the seniors to take a drive around the grounds after lunch to check out some of the ongoing construction, which includes a six-classroom addition to the elementary school, roof work, energy efficiency upgrades and a re-design of the band entrance. The estimated completion date for the construction is fall 2020.
Crandall also discussed some upcoming events and welcomed the seniors to attend a few upcoming holiday season concerts in December.
Lunch — a feast of roasted turkey with mashed potatoes, stuffing, gravy, squash and cranberry sauce with cupcakes for dessert — was served by Silver Creek administrators. Superintendent Todd Crandall, Business Administrator Lisa Rohloff, Director of Pupil Personnel Services Carol Privitere, Middle School Principal Eleanor Payne and Elementary School Principal Merrie Maxon delivered plates of food to the dozens of seniors in attendance.
The meal was catered by Busy Beavers restaurant at Wolf’s Run (Dolly Beebe) in Irving with beverages provided by SCCS cafeteria contractor Personal Touch, which is managed by Jennifer Polowy.
Musical accompaniment and entertainment were provided by Phillip McMullen’s high school chorus and Kiersten Ferguson’s high school band.
