Alicia Wroblewski, who has been received two promotions in a dozen years at the State University of New York at Fredonia, can add another feather to her cap: the Poummit Secretarial Award.

Since becoming an Agency Program Aide in the Office of Residence Life in 2014, Ms. Wroblewski has taken on initiatives to promote the true essence of Fredonia for both students and colleagues. She leads Residence Life’s social media committee, has become its unofficial “Instagram influencer” – a job title Wroblewski coined to describe her marketing of Wellness Wednesdays and Fredonia Fridays. She is also responsible for the office website.

Wroblewski is a key point person in housing operations and has successfully implemented projects in Residence Life that include an overhaul that addressed organization and filing that transformed the room selection lottery system, which used coffee cans, into a fully online room selection program.

Several video tutorials that utilized student employees to deliver Residence Life information in an easy-to-follow format were initiated by Wroblewski. Her commitment to high customer service standards is considered one of her greatest contributions to the office. She sets the bar high and is an excellent role model to others.

Wroblewski helps new staff become oriented to the office and makes it easy for others to be successful in their job because she is clear, organized and willing to go above and beyond.

Wroblewski, who received a bachelor’s degree in English from Fredonia, was hired as a Keyboard Specialist 1 in the Native American Consortium in 2007. She was promoted to Secretary 1 in the Office of Residence Life in 2013 and, one year later, to Agency Program Aide. Wroblewski joined the Secretarial/Clerical Professional Development Committee in 2018 and was appointed co-chair of the State Employees Federated Appeal (SEFA) Committee earlier this year.

The Poummit Secretarial Award, given in memory of Janet Marks, a former secretary to the Fredonia president, and established through the Fredonia College Foundation, was presented to Wroblewski at the fall secretarial/clerical conference held recently at the College Lodge.
