CIAO holds Christmas party, describes upcoming events
Nearly 40 people attended the annual Christmas party on Dec. 8 at the Fredonia Beaver Club.
Members were asked to bring candy to fill stockings and they did not disappoint! Thirty-five stockings were filled to overflowing with extra candy being packaged up and sent along to Willow Mission. Lynda Mosher, chairwoman of the event, would like to thank all who donated and participated in the candy assembly line!
Members were treated to a short skit about a present that was re-gifted throughout the Italian Consulate Office. Cast members included Paul Policella, Sally Crisanti, Paulette Barreca, Lynda Mosher and Nance Ortolano. Thanks to all for your academy performance.
Also on the agenda was to put your family on the map. Members located towns and villages in Italy and Sicily to put their family name on them. These maps of Italy and Sicily will be on display for all to see at CIAO activities. It was interesting to learn several members shared both Italy and Sicily ancestry as well as many members shared the same village!
A surprise, delicious, ricotta birthday cake was presented to Nance Ortolano by Sherry Mullen as well as a homemade bottle of lemonchello. Birthday cake was shared to all the members, but Nance kept the lemonchello for herself!
CIAO is on the move for 2020, with annual picnic date of Aug. 8 at Russell Joy Park. So mark your calendars. More details to follow!
Want a new experience for St. Joseph Day? How about attending an Italian-speaking Mass, followed by a delicious dinner! Where, do you say? St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, 160 Court St. in Buffalo. CIAO is reserving a limited amount of tickets, so you need to act fast once we receive the tickets. More information will follow.
Always be sure to check our Facebook page at CIAO Chautauqua Italian American Organization! New members are always welcomed and you don’t have to be Italian to join.
If you are interested in joining or participating in activities, contact President, Sam Ortolano at 934-2592 or Secretary, Nance Ortolano, 673-9177.
