Dunkirk announces kindergarten roundup

The Dunkirk City School District will conduct its annual Kindergarten Round-Up for School Year 2020-21. All children who reach the age of 5 years on or before Dec. 1 are urged to be enrolled in kindergarten in the Dunkirk City Schools. Parents and guardians should contact Jessica Vasquez at 366-9300, ext. 2710 to register in the month of March.

Kindergarten screening will take place from March 16 to 23 at the Boorady Center, 90 E. Fourth St., Dunkirk. Appointments will be scheduled between 8 a.m. and 2 p.m. and will last approximately 30 minutes.

During the registration process, parents and guardians should be prepared to provide pertinent information regarding their child, including basic registration data. Valuable records will need to be provided, including such things as the child’s birth certificate, immunization records and proof of guardianship, if applicable, along with proof of your address (such as a tax receipt or utility bill).

The Dunkirk City School District offers a full-day kindergarten program taught by experienced, professional, state certified teachers. The kindergarten program includes instruction in Reading/Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, STEM, and Social Studies. Supplemental, regular instruction is provided in the areas of Art, Music, Physical Education, Character Education and computers. Speech and Special Education services are provided as required. Complete breakfast and lunch programs are available for all students.
